Praying for Peace (and sanity)

'I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.'
John 16:33

Today, much like other days that I post, I searched for a verse that would be relevant to what it is what I want to say. Some days, I flip open my Bible to a random page and there's a verse relating to exactly what I'm thinking. Other days, like today, I had to think about what it was I need for the coming week. This week, I need peace (and sanity) because Charlie and I are going to start putting down our new hardwood floors. I you didn't catch my last post, we drove to Murphy, North Carolina to get an amazing deals for our little house.

I don't want to give away too many details, but they are going to look amazing. Of course, I'll share with you!

And after the floors are in and we have somewhat of a real house, we'll be starting the bathroom renovation. This is what I am really looking forward too. Charlie and I will be doing the work ourselves and have already started by gutting from top to bottom. Remember the way that nasty bathroom looked before in my 'house tour' post?

The pictures are super dark, but I'm not sorry, because so was that bathroom. Eek! Old builder grade tile that was yellowed with age, a noisy sliding shower door (which I especially hate), the biggest tub ever and the tiniest, most awkward vanity of all time. The vanity was wedged between a half wall and the bathroom door. The layout was horrible. You'd never know that it was actually a decent sized room.

But, behold!

Hard to believe that I'm excited about that mess! I feel like we'll be living in an actual adult house before we know it. A friend stopped by the house last weekend and I am ashamed to say there was a toilet and a bathroom sink in the yard, waiting to the trip to it's eternal home, the dump.

It's Hardwood Time!

For where your treasure is, there too, will be your heart.
Luke 12:34

I'm a lucky girl, there is no doubt about that! It's easy to be happy when things are going you're way, but it's harder to keep a happy face when times are tough. Part of what makes us who we are is how we handle those hard times. Browsing through blogs, magazines, online shopping and advertisements, it's so easy to think about the things that are lacking in our own lives and how things could be more 'storybook' like they seen for others. I wish for each glowing image posted, there were five of the trial-and-error shots that it took to get there! Getting where I want to be is what makes me appreciate the final product that much more.

I am not ashamed to say that we have been walking, standing, dancing, playing, eating and living on subfloor for over 6 months, but this weekend Charlie and I drove up to Murphy, North Carolina buy the long awaited hardwood floors for the house! This means BIG things are happening here, folks! Once the floors are in, we can start my favorite part, which will be decorating the little house! All of this means good things for {it's a monogrammed world} as I'll have lots of material to share with you!

All 3600lbs will be installed soon and I can't wait to share the ups and downs!

Disclaimer: It was impossible to photograph, but the trailer's max capacity is 3500lbs, which means we really had that baby loaded down. An overweight trailer meant making a normally 5 hour trip much longer. We drove on average 50mph the entire way home.
Epic. Fail.

But at least we have floors! And memories from the trip!
Now, who wants to come help with installation?
