Week one of renovations is done, and I survived. Barely. From sun up to sun down (okay, more like 9am to 7pm) I worked on the house. Charlie and I have different ideas of how the renovating game should be played. My angle... rip it all apart, move in, slowly build it back up. His angle... please don't make me walk on subfloors for six months. Spoiler alert, we're walking around on subfloors.
To appreciate where you are, you have to remember where you've been. Doesn't the saying go something like that? For that reason, before you can appreciate all of the hard work I've been putting in, you have to appreciate how horribly horrendous the house was/kind of still is at this point in the renovation. Early 90s style and design at its finest! Luckily, the house was built well and has solid wood cabinets in the kitchen. Other than that, we pretty much struck out.

Now you can see why I was so crazy psycho obsessed excited to start the renovations. Understatement of the year, there is a lot to do. Top to bottom, side to side. Literally, no surface left untouched.
The biggest jobs:
scrape popcorn ceilings in the entire house, including living room/dining room vaulted ceiling
prime ceilings
paint ceilings
remove carpet in bedrooms and monogramming shop
prime and paint 129385271985 feet of oak trim/molding/windows
prime and paint solid oak bedroom/bathroom/closet doors
refinish solid wood cabinets in kitchen and laundry room
address outdated bathrooms (2)
patch holes in sheetrock
paint every single wall in the house
floors
First order of business, rid the house of those funky/dusty popcorn ceilings. I found the perfect DIY concoction online, and tomorrow I will walk you through exactly how we removed 1000 square feet of them!
